01 — About Us

We are one big front-porch family.

Historic Satterwhite family farmhouse porch
📍 The Old Homeplace — Creedmoor, NC • Built 1847 • Restored 2019 by cousins

The Satterwhites began as farmers, blacksmiths, teachers and preachers in North Carolina. Today we are nurses in Texas, engineers in California, artists in New York and farmers still in Granville County — but we share the same laugh, the same cornbread recipe, and the same promise: no cousin left behind.

SatterwhiteFamily.net was created in 2008 after our 100th reunion to keep everyone connected. It is run by volunteers from five branches. Here you will find 1,200+ digitized photos, 340 family stories, census records, Bible pages, military letters, and a living family tree that grows every month.

  • ✓Verified genealogy: traced to John Satterwhite (c.1765–1832) with deeds, wills and DNA confirmation from 42 testers.
  • ✓Living archive: new photos and obituaries added weekly, reunion videos, scholarship winners, births & milestones.
  • ✓For all ages: Kids Corner, Cousins Chat, elder oral histories, and a private prayer list.
  • ✓Preservation fund: we maintain two family cemeteries and the Old Homeplace museum.

02 — Heritage & Values

What it means to be a Satterwhite

Our motto, stitched on the 1927 reunion quilt: “Hold Fast, Lift Up.” Hold fast to faith and family. Lift up the next generation. These three pillars guide scholarships, reunions and this website.

🌳

Hold Fast to Roots

We honor elders, tend graves, record stories before they fade, and teach children where they come from.

🤝

Lift Each Other

Meal trains for new moms, college fund for first-generation students, jobs board for cousins by cousins.

🕊️

Gather Often

Monthly Zoom, yearly reunion, regional fish-fries. No one should go a year without hearing “Hey cousin!”
